Welcome to the Independence Pass Foundation

The Independence Pass Foundation (IPF) is a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3)] foundation based in Aspen, Colorado. Working with local, state and federal agencies, IPF develops and implements projects that maintain and enhance the ecology, beauty and safety of Independence Pass. The Foundation is led by a 12-member volunteer Board of Directors and staffed by two part-time consultants—an executive director and a development director. Since its founding in 1989, IPF's many donors, volunteers and contractors have continued to support us with their time, their expertise and their dollars. IPF is truly the beneficiary of the community's caring for Independence Pass. We are honored to represent all who love the Pass in our everyday work.

IPF's tree planting program with Roaring Fork Valley students is an integral part of its activities. Independence Pass serves as an outdoor classroom. Every year, groups from local schools spend a day on the Pass helping with planting projects and learning about the environment.
